While it may have been simpler to work with a single end-to-end shop, I wanted to GM the restoration project and work with local partners to bring this special car back to life. Moving in parallel has been able to speed things up and I’ve kept as much of the work local to the Pacific Northwest. This Turbo started in Germany, lived in Japan, but will be a Seattle car from now on. Oddly enough, I was born in Germany (same month/year as the car), also lived in Japan and have settled in Seattle. Kismet.

  • Adam from Sodo Moto was the guy that found this car originally, provided his expertise on the transaction, imported it for me, and got me started on this journey.
  • Bernie at European Autowerke  handled all the mechanical work on the car including a complete engine / transmission rebuild, all mechanical and electrical systems as well as assembly. Bernie has a huge network of partners that will be doing some of the work. This project would not have been possible without his partnership, expertise, and patience.
  • The body work is being done by a true craftsman, Danny Gherman at DG Vintage Coachworks. Danny also connected me with other local Porsche experts, and without his early help, I don’t think I would have pulled this project off.
  • The initial assessment of the car including a tear down of the engine and transmission was done by Scott McCauley, an independent with many years at the best Porsche shops in Seattle.
  • Haury’s, one of the few Porsche certified shops in town will have their classic restoration team paint the car.
  • Charlie Brown at Evergreen Turbo restored the turbo.
  • PMB Performance worked their magic to bring the calipers back to life.
  • Web Cam Racing restored the cams.
  • Performance Coatings in Kent, WA handled many of the coatings.
  • Tim @ Ollie’s handled all of the machine shop work. The heads were done by Walt Watson @ Competition engineering.
  • The interior will be brought back to original glory Matt Gibson at All City Convertibles.
  • The gauges were beautifully restored by Seattle Speedometer.
  • The Fuchs were expertly restored by Peter Nguyen. He’s the only non-local but with an excellent reputation and came highly recommended from trusted sources.
  • The Pelican Parts forum for the 930 has been a huge help, and I also maintain a build thread there.
  • There is an amazing thread on the early 930s on Ferrari Chat that has been a wealth of information throughout my journey.
  • Lastly, a huge shout out and thank you to Ryan Snodgrass, who literally wrote the book on these early 930s. I’m so grateful that Ryan lives in the area and has been generous with his time and expertise. I own all of his books and highly recommend them to any true Porsche fanatic.
