I had a misstep with the interior after working with my first partner. Fantastic guy, and his shop does incredible work, but they lacked the deep Porsche expertise that I needed for this period perfect restoration. The materials they selected looked the part, but weren’t a perfect match for what Porsche would have used back in 1975. It was about $6K down the drain, but I wasn’t willing to comprimise on anything with this restoration.
I’m happy to be working with Matt at All City Convertibles & Customs, who has a ton of experience with the nuance of these early cars. Bernie and I went out to see Matt and make the final material selections, and I’m really excited for this part of the project to be underway…it makes me feel closer to the finish line! Thankfully we have Ryan’s early 930 bible as our guide.

Speaking of interior, and Ryan Snodgrass coming to my rescue, I’m happy to report that we found the correct headliner for these early cars. A restoration like this is all about the details, and Ryan let me know that most of the headliners out there, have the incorrect hole pattern. Ryan’s book provides a great illustration of what the oem pattern should look like and what you typically find aftermarket:

Ryan helped me track down an Italian crafstman that is still making these headliners with the correct pattern. I connected with Matteo from La Perfetta, and he sent me some examples which are an exact match to oem. I ordered an ivory with sunroom for Ryan’s car, and an ivory without sunroom for my car. They arrived quickly and I’m happy to report that when Matt installed the headliner, he said not only are they perfect, but they were by far the easiest to install with everything pre-cut for an easy job.

I also received the original steering wheel back from Don @ Dallas Custom Steering Wheels, and it looks as good as new.

Bernie was able to source an oem dash direct from Porsche which is good, because mine was beyond restoration.
